Wellcom’s extensive pre-media services offer drum scanning, high-end retouching on Mac and Quantel Graphic Paintbox, digital proofing, Prinergy PDF workflow and print management.

Our scanning facilities operate over various shifts with dedicated colour management and quality control teams offering the latest in colour management expertise and software support.

As well we have teams of talented Photoshop retouchers. With such dedicated resources, we deliver creatively impressive results. Retouching is combined with our own strict colour management and quality control procedures, and complemented by in-house scanning, photographic and digital proofing facilities.

Wellcom’s controlled digital proofing utilises Kodak XP4 and Canon W8200 3DAP systems. The Kodak XP4 is the industry preferred digital proofing system. It is the only 100% colour accurate digital dot structure proofing device that has the ability to run additional metallic and special colours. We can custom mix any Pantone ink for spot colour output to the Kodak XP4, and can output up to A2 size proofs. The Canon W8200 3DAP system has the ability to fingerprint any printing press, creating a proof that accurately represents the final printed product. It can output up to A1 size proofs.

Our Prinergy PDF workflow system ensures optimum file quality and integrity. We utilise ROOM technology (Rip Once Output Many). Once a file has been prepared through Prinergy it can be output to any of our calibrated output devices, or sent as a PDF file without compromising the integrity of the data. The Prinergy PDF workflow system offers colour conversions on the fly to suit individual newspapers and magazines. It also offers multi-user access to page files.

This means a client can view and sign-off a proof in one state and have that same identical proof and digital file run out at a printing company in other states without colour deviation.
