2004 saw the introduction of the Karat  A2 offset press to Wellcom Sydney. The Karat is Australia’s first waterless ink press specifically designed for short to medium print runs, and it combines the speed of digital with the quality of the gravuflow waterless inking system. The waterless inking system allows smooth even ink coverage – no ghosting, banding or stepping – with an optional inline aqueous coating in matt, satin or gloss. The Karat achieves consistency from proof to print, with precise colour matching and colour integrity.

Wellcom has also introduced the all new HP Indigo 5000 Digital Print system – a state-of-the-art digital offering designed for short run and direct marketing mail-merge print.

The Indigo system has proved that technology has overcome the major issues previously associated with digital printing.

The Indigo boasts seven colours – four colour process plus spot matt varnish, or six colour process called Indichrome, offering four colour process plus two vivid combinations of Indi-orange, Indi-violet and spot matt varnish.

Both the orange and violet are ‘brilliant’ hues suitable for type or solid block areas. As well, the Indigo system digitally tabulates special logotype and corporate colour matching, allowing for effortless colour logo reproduction within the digital environment.

Because the system is digital you sign off on the actual printed sheet rather than a facsimile proof of the job.

Combined with Wellcom’s in-house Sapphire coating system, it allows us to print on a wider range of specialty stocks, including uncoated varieties.

The HP Indigo is an ‘on-demand’ oversize A3 digital press. It’s the perfect candidate for short-run jobs and personalisation. It’s also ideal for clients who appreciate the added value of customising and personalising targeted marketing material.

Wellcom also offers large format poster and banner printing. Our HP5000 dye-based ink plotters provide photo-realistic quality images for indoor use. Our HP5500 UV-based pigment ink plotters ensure enhanced lightfastness that is suitable for both indoor or outdoor applications. With a maximum image width of up to 1.5 metres, we can print to almost any length giving total flexibility. A wide range of stocks are available including UV papers, polypropylene, backlit, adhesives, and canvas.

Our comprehensive in-house print finishing area handles cello-glazing, laminating, mounting, die-cutting and other specialty print finishing services.
